Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, says he reserves the right to defect to another political party if it ever becomes necessary for his political alignment and the stability of the polity.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor stressed that, like every Nigerian, he holds the inalienable right to freely associate and determine his political future without interference.
“Governor Mohammed, like any citizen, reserves the right to determine his future political alignments,” the statement read. “Should that time ever arise, such a decision will not be dictated by the dubious machinations of political turncoats who thrive on falsehood and malice.”
He, however, dismissed rumours of plans to defect to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), describing the claims as baseless and mischievous. Governor Mohammed insisted that he remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he has been actively involved in resolving internal crises allegedly fuelled by anti-democratic forces.
According to him, no amount of political distraction will deter his dedication to the development of Bauchi State and the strengthening of democratic ideals.
