NESREA to increase oversight function in Kano

The National Environmental Standard  and Regulations Enforcement Agency, (NESREA), says it has achieved a lot of successes in terms of waste control and environmental sanitation Regulations in Kano.

The coordinator of the Agency in kano, Lukman Lawal ,stated this while briefing journalists in kano.

He said NESREA being saddled with the responsibility of protecting and developing the environment, was working asidiously in enforcing all environmental guidelines and standard aimed at addressing environmental challenges nationwide.

Lukman Mohammad explained that NESREA office in kano had carried out series of oversight functions geared towards inspecting and monitoring companies that discharged affluent waste with the aim of making sure that the companies make proper utilization of their waste treatment plants .

“We monitor industries like tanneries ,food and beverages companies ,like beverages, telecommunication mast among others,to make sure they operations tallied with the laws of the country”.

The coordinator encourged the populace to always report cases of affluent discharge in communities that causes health challenges to the agency for proper measures to be taken.

Lawal advised the public to desist from building Residential houses in areas meant for industries with aim of curtailing environmental hazards.
