Customs Operatives impound over 5,000 ATM cards Enroute Dubai

The Kano and Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Custom Services, says it has apprehended one person in possession of over five thousand ATM cards concealed in a bag of beans at Aminu Kano International Airport on his way to Dubai.

The Comptroller of the Command, Nasir Ahmad, stated this while handing over the suspect and the seized items to the Zonal Commander of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, Kano ,katsina and jigawa Commands at customs Headquarters in Kano.

He said the suspect was apprehended during the screening process by the personnel of Nigerian customs service at the airport with five thousand three hundred and fourty two ATM cards found with the suspect.

Nasir Ahmed explained that the suspect, Sunusi Labaran, attempted to beat the intelligence of his personnel of the Nigerian custom services by concealing the ATM cards inside a bag of beans,on his to Dubai via Ethiopian Airlines.

He noted that the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs has directed Command to hand over the suspect and the siezed items to EFCC, for further investigation.

The comptroller commended his personnel for a job welldone, and urged them not to relent in their efforts as criminals always devise new means of beating their intelligence.

Nasir Ahmed added that the command had recorded another mile Stone in generating revenue in the month of September,saying the sum of two billion,three hundred and thirty nine million,two hundred and fourteen million 2,339,214 . was generated by Kano and Jigawa Commands.

In a remark, the Kano Zonal Head of EFCC Mr sanusi Aliyu said the Commission would conduct thorough investigation on the matter to ascertain the reason behind carrying such huge number of ATM cards .

“We would trace the owners of the ATM cards ,and would present them before a court of law upon concluding our investigations” Kano.
