The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday, elected Hamisu Chidaria its new Speaker.
Chidaria represents Makoda Constituency.
The development followed the resignation of the former Speaker, Hon Abdulaziz Gafasa.
Gafasa said he was resigning from the position over personal reasons.
After his swearing-in on Tuesday, the new Speaker, Chidari, appreciated the members for the confidence reposed in him.

Also during Tuesday’s plenary, the members appointed Zubairu Hamza Masu as the new Deputy Speaker.
Labaran Abdul Madari was re-elected as Majority Leader of the House while Abdullahi Iliyasu Yar Yasa emerged the Deputy Majority Leader.
