Senate summons Defence Minister, Service Chiefs, IGP over insecurity

The Senate on Tuesday summoned the Minister of Defence and the service chiefs over the high level of insecurity in the country.

The upper legislative chamber also summoned the heads of the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Service.‎

The summons followed a motion moved by Senator Bello Mandiya from Katsina State over the abduction of about 330 students of a secondary school in the state by bandits.

The Senate, in the same vein, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the report of the Senate Committee on Security challenges without further delay.

The Senate equally passed a vote of no confidence in the heads of security agencies over the state of insecurity in the country.

The lawmakers expressed regrets that Buhari had consistently ignored all resolutions passed by the Senate concerning insecurity in the country.

They demanded an immediate sacking of the service chiefs and other heads of security agencies. ‎
