‎Bandits attack Zamfara commissioner’s convoy, kill his driver

 

‎The convoy of Zamfara State Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Abubakar Dauran, was on Monday attacked by ‎bandits operating within Katsina and Zamfara states.

It was gathered that the commissioner’s ‎driver was killed in the attack while several other persons in the convoy were injured.

It was learnt that the incident occurred when the commissioner was coming from Katsina State where he had gone to hand over the 26 kidnapped minors rescued by Zamfara State Government to the Katsina State Government.

The Zamfara State Police Command cnfirmed the incident, but said the armed bandits did not confront the commissioner and his convoy directly.

Spokesman of the command, Mohammed Shehu, said the convoy was caught in a crossfire by two bandits groups.

“The government delegation led the commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Abubakar Dauran was caught in a crossfire between two warring bandits groups at Dogon Karfi, GidanJaji, along Zurmi – Jibiya road, in Zurmi Local Government area of Zamfara State,” Shehu said in a statement. ‎
