COVID-19: Lagos shelves resumption of schools

‎Schools in Lagos State will not reopen on Monday, the Lagos State government said on Sunday. ‎

‎The Head, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr Kayode Abayomi, announced that the government would soon disclose a new date for the resumption of public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.

‎According to Abayomi, schools in the state are not reopening on Monday, January 4, 2021, as earlier announced.

He noted that the second wave of COVID-19 would be a major determinant for the reopening of schools in the state.

He said, “Please, recall that the Ministry of Education earlier announced 4th of January as resumption date for the second term 2020/2021 academic session, but this has since been overtaken by the turn of events due to the recent waves of Covid-19 pandemic.”‎
