Arewa youths write Buhari, oppose anti-SARS protests

‎The Arewa Youth Consultative Council has written to President Muhammadu Buhari to express their opposition to the #EndSARS campaign going on in the country.

“Your Excellency sir, President @MBuhari, on behalf of more than 150 Million people in our states, we want to loudly say that our 19 NORTHERN STATES ARE AGAINST THE ENDSARS CAMPAIGN.

“Dear IG of @PoliceNG, WE ONLY CALL FOR THE REFORM AND REORGANIZATION OF SARS, kindly take notes,” the Northern youth group said in a tweet.

In a letter addressed to Buhari and signed by Muhammad Ibrahim Milb, National Director of Media and Communications, the Arewa youths described the calls for the disbandment of SARS as callous, reckless and unpatriotic, and urged the President to disregard them.

They said SARS has been playing a major role in tackling criminal activities in the Northern states.

“We can’t just sit and watch others calling for the scrapping a unit‎ that is almost the fastest option for our security in Northern Nigeria,” the Arewa youths said.

They also argued that the social media celebrities and youths in the South who are engaging in the #EndSARS protests are not up to the number of ‘millions’ of silent voices who are not in support of the campaign.  ‎
