FG issues COVID-19 HPR 2021 to combat pandemic

 

The Federal Government has issued the Corona Virus Disease(Covid-19) Health Protection Regulation 2021(Covid-19 HPR 2021) in order to combat the spread of the pandemic in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Environment, Dr Mohammad Mahmood, during a media briefing in Abuja.

He said the President and the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has issued the Corona Virus disease (Covid-19) Health Protection Regulation 2021(Covid-19 HPR 2020) as another measure of controlling the further spread of Covid-19 second wave for the well-being of Nigerians.

The Minister however said that the six parts regulations’ Comprehensive provisions must be made to work for the common good of the Nigeria Public, noting that the provisions on non-pharmaceutical measures by no means the most important aspects of Covid-19 prevention are very clear and easy to adhere to.

Mahmood reiterated that the Covid-19 HPR 2021 is an essential legal directive meant to safeguard the health of the entire Nigerian people which must be complied with for the citizens common good. “It’s spells out clearly the roles of stakeholders, Individual Nigerian, Religious leaders, Business Owner, Worship Centres, Commercial Centres, Learning Institutions, Health care Institutions, Transportation facilities, work places, Hospitality facilities, Custodial Centres and the likes.”

He said: “We all as Citizens have responsibility to ensure that all the provisions there in are complied with in the interest of all of us. Remember that the health of one is the health of all.”

Mahmood, however assures that the ministry and the environmental health officials nationwide will give qualitative and effective decontamination/disinfection services following Regulation 36(part 5) and Regulation 7( part 2) for the timely elimination of the viruses living outside the human/animal host.

The Minister, therefore charged citizens and all stakeholders to support President Muhammadu Buhari over the onerous task of protecting the health of Nigerians from the menace of the deadly Corona Virus Infection.
