NUJ moves to build Media Villages across the Nation

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has taken a step towards realising media villages for her members across the nation. This was made known in a home-coming-like speech by the National President of the body, Comrade Christopher Isiguzo during Enugu State council congress held at the Press Centre.
Comrade Isiguzo who was recently elected as the Vice President of the Congress of African Journalists said, “We came on board and we came up with this programme of building media villages across the 37 councils. We are using Lagos as a case study. And as I speak, we have met with the minister of FCT and he has accepted to give us hectares of land.”
He said they had met with some of the Governors such as that of Nasarawa, Bauchi and so on. He said that they agreed to give some land for the media villages.
“So, it’s in that line that we got into partnership with the real estate developers who will help us develop these facilities across the country,” said the National President of NUJ.

He further disclosed that the nationwide media villages will have the same design with the Lagos Journalists’ Estate.

Comrade Isiguzo who was accompanied by the national acting Vice President of NUJ South-East, Comrade Kenneth Ofoma, earlier spoke about the need for togetherness because if the journalists were together, the politicians would not toy with them because when they get divided, some persons might be bought and their stories might be killed.
He talked about the recent election conducted in Niger State by the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) as he congratulated the winners and urged the losers to join hands in making progress in the union.
Other participants in the congress were the council Chairman, Comrade Rex Arum, the Vice Chairman, Comrade Sammuel Udekwe, the secretary, comrade Amaka Agbo, the assistant secretary, comrade Emma Acha and some of the state members of the union.
