Police launch manhunt for man who beheaded 5-year-old daughter in Osun

 

‎The police in Osun State has launched a manhunt for a 25-year-old automobile mechanic, Albert Olaposi, who allegedly beheaded his five-year-old daughter, Mercy, on Monday.

The incident happened in the Oke Oje area of Gbongan, Osun State, where Mercy was said to be living with her paternal grandmother.

The victim’s parents live in another area of the town.

On Monday morning, Olaposi reportedly visited the residence of his mother and took away the girl.

He allegedly beheaded her afterwards and fled the scene when the mother raised the alarm.

It was gathered that people around tried to apprehend him but he escaped. ‎

Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.‎

Opalola said the police had launched a manhunt for the mechanic.
