UniAbuja students protest against increment of school fees‎

Students of the University of Abuja on Monday staged a peaceful protest at the entrance of the school against the recent increase in tuition fees.

The students also kicked against the closure of the portal meant for the payment of school fees.

The students brandished placards with different inscriptions during the protest.

Although the protesters wore face masks, they did not comply with social distancing guidelines. ‎

One of the students said they are protesting against the closure of school fees portal and a punitive payment of N5000 for late registration of courses.

Demanding a reversal of the school fees hike, another student wondered, “The University of Abuja is a federal university. ETF is building the school. What is the increment for?”

Inscriptions on some of the placards read, ‘Reopening and extension of school fees portal till the end of the session’, ‘No late registration fee including’ and ‘Review and reduction of school fees ahead of next session’.

They students also demanded the postponement of first semester examinations to March 8, 2021.‎
