Edo 2020: Obaseki causing violence to encourage voter-apathy says APCThe All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Edo State has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu of arming thugs to disrupt the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of the Party, Colonel David Imose (Rtd) stated this at the party’s Secretariat in Benin City, the Edo State Capital, while addressing newsmen.

Imose said the party had formally notified the police of plans by PDP to cause panic in the state that would in turn lead to apathy in the upcoming election.

He accused Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, of bringing thugs to Igueben where one of the residents was shot thereby causing the victim to be hospitalized.

The party chairman attributed the political tension in the state to unfriendly languages of the governor and his alleged desperation for re-election.

He also accused the governor and his deputy for the crisis in APC, stating that their defection to PDP had turned PDP to a violent party; thus resulting in unhealthy rivalry between the two political parties in the state.

The chairman also called on the police to ensure that some persons arrested with firearms in Igueben during PDP rally were brought to book alongside those who hired and gave them the arms.
