As residents of Edo State await the results from Ovia South West local government area, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to immediately announce the final result of the governorship poll held in Edo State on Saturday, September 19, 2020, to avoid mayhem.
Addressing a press briefing inside the state government house in Benin, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, who is the national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, expressed shock that despite his words of commendation for the way that the electoral body conducted itself on the election day the reverse seems to be the case as the electoral body is foot dragging to conclude its job.
Wike said that it would not be a good thing for INEC if it starts its assignment well and ends it shoddily. He charged INEC to straighten all loose ends and call to order its staff, the administrative secretary who seem to be the clog in the wheel of progress.
In his own submission, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde charged the INEC not to shirk in its responsibilities as the PDP would not want the commission’s actions to lead to any form of confusion.
“We don’t want to set Edo State on fire,” he stated

Results from 17 councils have so far been announced by INEC with Governor Godwin Obaseki maintaining a commanding lead, while the candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu trails behind.
