Four die, 12 injured on Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

 

Four people have been confirmed dead, while 12 others were injured with varying degrees, in an accident involving a Mazda bus around the Isara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, a spokesman for the Corps for Trade and Enforcement (TRACE), confirmed the incident to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Abeokuta .
Akinbii said that the incident was due to a tire burst while the bus was on high speed. He said 16 people were involved in the incident, consisting of three men, eight women and five boys.
Akinbii said four people died on the spot and their bodies have been kept in the FOS morgue.

“A commercial bus carrying 16 passengers, including the driver, was on its way from Lagos to Ibadan when the rear tire bursted due to over speeding.
“Four passengers died on the spot, consisting of a five year old boy, two men and a woman,” he said.
He added that the injured were transferred to the Idera Hospital in Sagamu and the Kemenangan Hospital in Ogere Remo, while the deceased were put in the FOS Moroccan Room, Ipara Remo.
Akinbii appealed to drivers not to speed.
