Gunmen kill 22 in fresh attack on Kaduna villages
About 22 persons, mostly women and children, were reportedly killed on Wednesday night, after gunmen attacked four villages in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that many persons are still unaccounted for as at Thursday, hours after the attack on the communities.
Sources in the communities named the attacked villages as Apyiashyim, Atak’mawai, Kibori, and kurmin Masara, all in Atyap Chiefdom.
A resident of Atak’mawai village, Irimiya Gandu, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said many persons were killed, while several houses were burnt down in the attack.
Gandu said the attack commenced around 1:00 am, when most of the villagers were asleep.
Wednesday night’s attack is the latest in a series of ongoing killings in Kaduna State.
The attacks are mostly targeted at defenceless villagers in the Southern Kaduna areas.
