Insecurity: Ebonyi APC pledges support for Ebubeagu

By Damian Chika

The Ebonyi state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it fully supports the Ebubeagu (Glory of a Lion) security outfit which is currently operating in the state.

The support was given in Abakaliki in a communiqué signed by its State Caretaker Chairman, Mr Stanley Okoro-Emegha and other members of its executives after its meeting.

The communiqué remarked that the Ebubeagu security outfit has complemented the security agencies’ efforts in confronting insecurity in the state.

“The public should disregard the insinuation from the opposition that the state government was using the outfit to hound its members.

“The Presidency, Inspector General of Police and heads of other security agencies were duly consulted before the formation of the outfit.

The communiqué noted that the outfit was the south east zone’s security outfit and the training of its personnel is being conducted by the nation’s security agencies.

“We urge the opposition to be constructive in criticising the state governor as the citizens are advised to discountenance the unfounded allegations of Abuja politicians.

“The state governor is committed towards developing the state and has no time to pursue shadows or pay attention to politicians who have failed the people.

According to the communiqué, the party commended the police and other security agencies in the state for efficiently discharging their duties.

“The governor remains the chief security officer of the state and is committed to securing the lives and properties of the citizens.

Political tension has heightened in the state since National Assembly members from the state who belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently alleged that the governor was harassing its party members with Ebubeagu.
