NIDCOM, WIMBIZ advocate Mentoring Women for Leadership

The Lead of Women in Business, Management and Public Service(WIMBIZ) and Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hansatu Adegbite and Abike Dabiri-Erewa have advocated the need to mentor more women in leadership positions in both public and private sectors.

The need to engage more women in public and private sectors through mentoring, capacity building, gender equity, collaborations and conferences, dominated discussions when a delegation of Women in Business, Management and Public Service(WIMBIZ) led by the Executive Director Hansatu Adegbite met with Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed her strong belief in women supporting each other, she said: “We have too many qualified women across all sectors fit for. leadership. Therefore, by mentoring other women, we are helping ourselves”.

She urged women to have confidence in themselves and continue to be agents of change not because they are women but because they are capable.

She said: “When men are saying fire for fire, the women are saying water for fire.”

Adegbite, Executive Director WIMBIZ, who led the delegation stressed that the association is keenly interested in ensuring that women in public and private sectors are adequately cared for, empowered and their skills and competences escalated.

She added that the association is taking statistics of women in both the private and public sectors.

They also agreed that more women should get involved in politics and other sectors.

The Women in Business, Management and Public Service(WIMBIZ) was established about twenty years ago to cater, promote and encourage the growth and development of Women in Private and Public Life.
